Am looking for any information on this family for an elderly friend. Her parents were Sydney FULLALOVE and Alice Hurst. As a child she - Brenda - was taken by her dad to view the war memorial in Oldham and he said he had 4 brothers/relatives on there. He had joined the ?Territorials himself but was transferred to the newly formed RAF as he was in training to be an engineer. Brenda says he always felt he had cheated death, in that his brothers were killed? I have found Harold, a brother killed in Mesopotamia, and Joseph, killed at Basra. But the one I am trying to find more info on is Frank Fullalove. He was born in 1902 but possibly dies in 1920 in Oldham.I have found some scant war records for a Frank Fullalove, but don't know if it is the same one? on the 1911 census the family were living at Wrigley St Oldham. Frank and Sydney's etc father was Joseph Fullalove who was married to Eliza Wardleworth and they had 15 children in total although typically for the times, many died in infancy/childhood. I have tried to search on line for the inscriptions on the Oldham War memorial but can't find any , so wondered if anyone on here had access to these? And are there any remaining Fullaloves connected to this family out there? Brenda is now 87 and lives near Rivington, Horwich Lancs

To find connections on here, put the names in ‘search all member trees’
if Frank wasn’t born until 1902, he’s unlikely to have served in WW1.......
To find info about War casualties, look at the CWGC site. FREE to all

Thanks, I will give that a try shortly. The only reason I put it on here was that Brenda seems to think that 4 brothers names were on the war memorial? She was born in 1933...maybe the four could have contained other family names? I just don't know.

Yes I have seen those census reports...pretty depressing reading isn't it? to lose so many children...but sadly a sign of the times as I discovered from my own family tree history :-(

re the death, yes I think it probably is - looking for him all over there are few named Frank! I did find a little war record pertaining to a Frank Fullalove from Oldham, so I did wonder if....and this is a long shot......that he went in either at the end of WW1 as a very young recruit, or went out to Basra like Joseph his brother who was killed in 1920 when all the separation wars were going on, but did he return home injured, and subsequently died from those injuries? That of course just might be my imagination wanting to tidy things up!!!!!! I guess the only thing to do eventually will be to purchase that death cert and see if there is a connection.....

It doesn't look as if there's an online list of names on Oldham war memorial:
"Due to the enormity of the task this memorial has yet to be transcribed and if it is will probably end up being a searchable database" http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Lancashire/Oldham.html
There are 2688 names on the memorial: https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/10

If the name of the deceased wasn’t Fullalove, you’d have no way of knowing whether any of the men commemorated was related without first doing a lot of detailed research.
With regard to living relatives, as Sydney was the only male child to survive, any people connected with this specific family would have different surnames, unless any of the girls gave birth to illegitimate sons.
