I would like to ask if any Scottish members could help me find out anything about this lost family member.
John Purves born 9th December 1900. Paisley. Sister Ruth. Brother James.
My scribbled notes say Mother Susan Moore then in brackets Muir..
EG_ Scotlands People site. Parish records or Census. Regards Nala. :-)

You don't need a Scottish member particularly - though I am one!
Register free with Scotlands People - https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk You can search free, though you have to buy credits (minimum 30 credits for £7.50) in order to see the actual image of a cert.
That's what we Scottish (and other) members do.
This will be his birth record:
PURVES JOHN M 1900 573/1 2537 Paisley
It will cost you 6 credits to see the cert with all the details.

SP is not a subscription site , so people are unlikely to use precious units
You can buy units on the site and download his birth cert
PURVES JOHN M 1900 573/1 2537 Paisley
You can search on SP without paying - try it

Scottish deaths of married women are listed under both married and maiden surnames, if known.

Erika has posted FMP's transcription of 1891, for John senior and Susan.
Here is Ancestry's mangled version:
John Power in the 1891 Scotland Census Name: John Power Age: 27 Estimated birth year: abt 1864 Relationship: Head Spouse's name : Susan Purser Gender: Male Where born: Paisley, Renfrewshire Registration Number: 573 Registration district: Paisley Civil Parish: Paisley High Church County: Renfrewshire Address: 2 Barclay Street Occupation: House Painter ED: 7 Household schedule number: 37 Line: 25 Roll: CSSCT1891_188 Household Members: Name Age John Power 27 Susan Purser 25
As I don't see John senior's death before 1901, I wonder if this is him in 1901 - house painter. Possibly with an in-law John Muir?:
John Purves in the 1901 Scotland Census Name: John Purves Age: 36 Estimated birth year: abt 1865 Relationship: Boarder Gender: Male Where born: Paisley, Renfrew Registration Number: 553/1 Registration district: Brodick Civil Parish: Kilbride County: Bute Address: Gowanlea Occupation: House Painter ED: 1 Household schedule number: 91 Line: 21 Roll: CSSCT1901_186 Household Members: Name Age John Kerr 69 Catherine Kerr 69 Marjory Kerr 31 John Purves 36 John Muir 61 - house painter, Paisley

If John senior was travelling around for work, this might be his death:
PURVES JOHN 45 1910 733/ 24 Coldstream
Again, you'd need to see the cert to be sure.
It would also be interesting to see the 1901 and 1911 census images on SP to see if Susan was listed as married or widowed.
