You need to read the posts

The 1861/1851 census I posted you say are wrong, but the 1841 census you're sure is right.

It can't be, as the family are at the same address 1841/1851 and then link from the 1851 to 1861.

and as you can see James Pickford (or variations) is not an uncommon name in Stockport.
FMP transcription shows Pickford 1851 and Pilchard 1861. So much easier if you can give us details to help us help you.
Note - 1851 also shows him as aged 41 - born 1810??

If the marriage to Mary Fallows is the right man, his father's name was Charles, Umbrella Maker, as posted.

The 1851 age is clearly just a mistake.

They are at the same address in 1861

Presumably, Howard got back to this man through one of the children of the Pickford/Fallows marriage

Apologies to you all if I did not originally give you the address of James Pickford from the census of 1861. Thanks for all your work. To Greyghost I was wrong in assuming that the 1841 census info was correct. Subsequent research has shown that this was not correct either.
