Find Ancestors

I'm struggling to find antecedents of the above (b 1.Sept 1912 from 1939 register, d 3 Jan 1984). Ancestry indicates there is an obituary notice for him. He was a policeman in Sheffield, where he died. I do not know where he was born. Does anyone have access to the obituary records? Many thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if there are police records available? I'm trying to trace Eric Thompson's record. He was, I believe, born in 1906 (Sheffield) and married Nora M Mackereth in 1936 (also in Sheffield). His granddaughter says he was a policeman in Sheffield. Thanks for any help or suggestions

safc has posted likely baptism with parents first names and this marriage matches the first names and maiden name of mother on one of the births suggested by Catherine .
