Born in Mildenhall, Suffolk.

Hi, I am trying to track back his Mum’s side as a gesture to a distant cousin - he doesn’t have much in the way of relations now his Mum and Dad have both passed. I’m also interested in where my distant cousin comes from too. Ive done literally every connection I can find for the Sheldrick family - his Dad’s side, that’s cool, they don’t stray further for the majority of the time than the East and South East of England (with some London).

His Paternal Mother’s side is an entire mystery! And it doesn’t help that she was a Perry (possibly with special differences too). So here’s the facts:

1. I have Thomas on Not Tree Farm in Mildenhall with Dad Elliot G Sheldrick and Mum Winifred R Sheldrick in the 1939 census.

2. I have a Newmarket marriage between Elliot Sheldrick and Winifred Perry for July 1926.

3. I have a baptism record for a Winifred Rose Sophia Perry baptised 25 August 1901 in Standon, Hertford (not sure if it’s the correct record). The Father is listed as Arthur Perry, the Mother is listed as Eleanor.

4. I’m stuck on both Arthur’s and Eleanor’s from there - the records I’ve seen would suggest that they were both born Perry but I’d like to think this is was not true.

You lot are bloomin’ legends - lets hope my Cousin enjoys it when it’s finished and thanks for helping me to give him this - must admit, like I said before, I’ve always been interested in his blood too and he’s a really nice guy - Erika asked me a fair question, the answer is probably, God’s honest, that I got myself into a mess, but, as I interpret this, this evening, I shall come back and explain further. Can I ask, for further reference, for a few pointers on how the people who were kind enough to dig today approached this please? Obviously I got stuck. Are some of you using some sort of direct GRO access? I’m using Ancestry and Free BMD as a backup - thanks so much again!

Very useful. It gives mms for births 1837 - 1919 (England & Wales).
Also age at death, 1837 - 2019, although with a gap 1957-84.
It's therefore also the place to look for recent deaths in England & Wales.
