I have an Elizabeth Briggs born 1801 at St Mary's in Nottingham. I think her mother was Jane Briggs. The last time I have found her in a census as Elizabeth Briggs is 1841 in Southwell. I can't find any marriage records after this date for her but I have found a record of a death in 1842 in Southwell, volume 15, page 417, line 55. Is there any where I can search to try and determine if this is my Elizabeth or do I have to order the death certificate to progress further? |

Are you certain this is Elizabeth's son? Your post implies she wasn't married when Robert was born |

As you haven't found Elizabeth after 1841, can you say how you know exactly where she was born, please. |

Yes she is def Roberts mother. It says single mum where I found the record. I started researching this tree quite a few years ago now and had to leave it because I couldn't work Elizabeth out or get any further back. I've just decided to try and pick it up again. |

Erika, I know she was born 1801 because my father in law has a prayer book which used to be hers. In it is an inscription for her birth which was 1801. The book was signed by a rev. Dr berdsmore that I found was a past vicar at the church she was born in in 1801. Her mother who I think was Jane Briggs was also born at the church when rev berdsmore was actually a vicar there. |

Chris, Charlotte and Robert already had a child when they married so I think that's why they were living in the same address already. |

Have you considered that the woman on 1841 isn't 'your' Elizabeth Briggs? |

If this is Robert's burial, his age is a year 'out' compared with his baptism |
