Just to say that I have now solved the mystery. As suggested I have eventually managed to track down the marriage certificate of Oliver from one of my distant relatives, it shows Oliver’s father as William Clipstone and not Oliver as shown in the birth records, which means that Oliver and Winnie Clipstone were in fact brother and sister as thought |
