Hi that's right I am related to Nellie/Ellen Siddall . I got it wrong I thought that Nellie/Ellen was married to Allan ,but with your kind help found it was not correct . She married Eric Silson and emigrated to Canada. Thanks

I think Janette is related to Ellen Siddall Robinson, the adopted daughter, and assumed that she was Allan's wife (Ancestry flags the 1939 with Allan and his Nellie as a suggestion when you look at Nellie/Ellen on the 1911 census).

Janette was only interested in Allan because she thought he was her Nellie/Ellen's husband, in case he was related to John Theophilus.

But he's probably not related, and isn't even a son-in-law after all.

That's exactly what I was thinking, Ann. The poster assumed that the adopted daughter of John Siddall was the one who married Allan Siddall. So which one is she related to?

There were several hundreds of Siddalls in Yorkshire around that time, so there's no reason to think that Allan was related to John in any way (though of course he may have been) - particularly as they were not connected by marriage after all.

Allan's family was Rotherham/Sheffield-based, whereas John's was in the Leeds/Keighley area - quite a distance apart.

The Nellie who was adopted was age 3 in 1911 but your Nellie who is with Alan Sidall in 1939 was born November 1909 so would only have been 18 months old which is quite a difference

Eric must have returned to the UK after Ellen/Nelllie's death:

We can't find any marriage for Nellie Siddall and Allan Siddall.

I think his wife is Nellie Wortley, who was born in the 4th quarter of 1909, which would match with the DOB of 11/11/1909 given in 1939.
