There were several hundreds of Siddalls in Yorkshire around that time, so there's no reason to think that Allan was related to John in any way (though of course he may have been) - particularly as they were not connected by marriage after all.

Allan's family was Rotherham/Sheffield-based, whereas John's was in the Leeds/Keighley area - quite a distance apart.

I am getting confused here

are we looking for

Nellie Siddall b1907 adopted daughter of John Siddall who married Eric Silson in 1930 and emigrated to Canada

OR

Nellie Wortley b1909 who married Alan Siddall in 1931

That's exactly what I was thinking, Ann. The poster assumed that the adopted daughter of John Siddall was the one who married Allan Siddall. So which one is she related to?

I think Janette is related to Ellen Siddall Robinson, the adopted daughter, and assumed that she was Allan's wife (Ancestry flags the 1939 with Allan and his Nellie as a suggestion when you look at Nellie/Ellen on the 1911 census).

Janette was only interested in Allan because she thought he was her Nellie/Ellen's husband, in case he was related to John Theophilus.

But he's probably not related, and isn't even a son-in-law after all.

Hi that's right I am related to Nellie/Ellen Siddall . I got it wrong I thought that Nellie/Ellen was married to Allan ,but with your kind help found it was not correct . She married Eric Silson and emigrated to Canada. Thanks
