Dear all,

I am searching for any information on my great grandmother, Margaret McDonald, born around 1877, possibly in or near Clydebank, Scotland.

Her father's name was Thomas McDonald, his occupation, a contractor. She married Thomas Murray in Ryhope, Sunderland, England in 1895. She was a Catholic.
That's about all I know of her. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like Murray on the image. OP has Francis (1900) in her tree, so looks like the right family Shirley.

James was mistranscribed as aged 2 amendment done

This is the only birth on Scotlands people in Hawick, as given in 1911. Could be worth taking a look, but you will need some credits.

James born in 1901 in South Shields was my grandfather. I have traced the family of Thomas Murray my great grandfather in Ireland. But so far I can't find out anything more about Margaret. I will try Scotlands People.

Also, its interesting that her birth place is given as Hawick on the 1911 census.

The family hearsay was that she was from somewhere around Clydebank, as that is where she apparently met her future husband, Thomas. He came over from Ireland, and was working as a labourer for her father, also Thomas, who was a contractor.

Added: two female adults there are sisters of mercy.

Clydebank would make sense as thomas Murray was a dock labourer

Their first child seems to have been born in Scotland too
