Find Ancestors

Robert was born, according to 1939 census, 22/1/1900. He married Lilian Mitchell 1923

However, I cannot find/identify Robert in order to move on. The family THINK he was born in Barrow in Furness. He also, apparently, frequently lied about his age!

Can anyone please find what I am obviously missing?

If this is the correct marriage, it would seem that he was also known as WOOD at some time.

No birth in Barrow under Wood or Burns according to Cumbriabmd (which is quite comprehensive) - or at least not with the additional christian names - which he didn't use when he married. Maybe he added the other names later?

Looking at the image for 1939 it may be they have amended the wrong record - his son was listed as Robert J S Burns (1923 birth) - father Robert provided no further initials or names on his entry. However the later correction was attributed to the father?
