Hi fellow hunters,
I wonder if some kind person could do a look-up in the India Select Births and Baptisms 1786-1947 for me?
I have found that David William Melville appears three times in the records - presumably as the father of three children, who I think may be George Peters M, James Belford M and Charles ... M.
His Probate record (he died 13 Nov 1931) refers to his widow as 'Mary Jane Peters or Melville' and I'd be interested in any Marriage record for the pair of them - again, possibly in India c1883.
George and James are mentioned in the same Probate record bit there is no mention of Charles.

Yes, I'd found the two School records - presumably the two boys were sent home to boarding school.
Any sign of Charles? Or David and Mary's marriage - it might have been a bit later than I was thinking - 1890ish perhaps?

Wow, thanks ArgyllGran and Alviegal you both seem to have found a lot there! I'd got that George was a petroleum engineer in Burma from his father's Probate record - and that James awas a Tea Planter - but you have ffilled in lots of other gaps!
I'm having a problem downloading my tree at the moment but will try again tomorrow and input all the gems that you guys have all found.
