Birthdate 8th Nov 1823 in the margin. Occupation fanstick maker, but not sure if that refers to William or Francis.

i wonder if william had to show a baptism record to start his apprenticeship as a gold engraver as there was no birth certs till 1837

could 1823 be 1833??

I did write a post but it seems to have disappeared but I was saying that at first I had thought that Francis + Elizabeth had possibly had a William in 1823 who then died and then they had another one c1834. However, the baptism in 1848 disproves that.

I would not have been surprised if he lied about his age when he married Emma as she was younger than him, BUT, the 1851 and 1861 census also put his age at c1834 so I am totally confused.
