I've just heard from the person that he died on 31st Jan 1987 and his birthday was probably in June -so that looks good!
is it possible to click on it so it gives his birthdate? (not sure which site its on)

The record shows his birthdate as 9 June 1921 - remember that the information given is only as good as the knowledge of the person giving it.

This is the only Devon birth to fit the time frame - 6 weeks were allowed in which to register a Birth so may well have fallen into the September Quarter with a June birthdate

There are other births - only in the St Thomas area - 1904 -1930 for Pearce/Wannell combinations - at least one of them can't be for George's parents

Hi all
yes its looking complicated! I just found the two in 1904 too!

Whats puzzling is he is supposed to have had a sister Mary -which I found the correct marriage for in 1940 - but I cant find a birth for her that matches any of the Mothers maiden names/marriages for Georges parents!

Im wondering whether Georges Mum dies-and Mr Pearce remarried. - I will keep looking but at least it looks like we have his death and birth. I may try our church later for baptisms!
