Use this site to look for births with mmn listed from 1837 - 1917. I used Surname Welsh to include similar sounding variations and mmn Tomlinson with Chorlton as District

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

You can also look for deaths with ages given from 1837 onwards

It may have filled some of the large gaps you thought you had

If you take time to read the 1881 census , you will see that the Lowes and Parrot are LODGERS

It would utterly futile to look for any other connections

There are 5 children shown on Manchester Baprisms on ancestry, and yes, the births are widely spread

That could be the result of miscarriages, stillbirths, or simply not getting pregnant

For example, my maternal grandmother had 4 children ... 1903, 1910, 1915, 1925 ........... and there was never any mention of any other pregnancies by my mother (the eldest child).
