Looking for any information on Joseph Maguire,born 1912 in Northern Ireland (Belfast area?) He lived in Silverdale Street,Barrow-in-Furness on the 1939 register.He is the only 'open record' on the page.I know he was married to Daisy-but I can't find a marriage?-so I don't know who his father was? They had children William & Josie-who would both be on the record-but it's closed.
He's said to of had a brother in the Ballynahinch area of Northern Ireland,possibly called Harry?
Any info much appreciated-especially regarding parents & siblings.

I guess the first question to ask is ..........

did he marry in Ireland or in England & Wales, or Scotland?

Each of those 3 has to be searched in different records.

Similarly for the children, or a rough idea when the children were born????

Have you any ideas?

The records for the children are closed because they were still alive (or their deaths were not known) by 1991 when the NHS stopped updating the 1939 Register.

What is the full birth date is given for Joseph on the 1939 Register. That may help in finding his death record ............... going forward may help in going back!

Date of birth for Joseph on the 1939 register is 18th July 1912.

However there are no closed records. Joseph is living there on his own although it does say he is married.

There is this Daisy Maguire in Lancashire who is married but no husband with her, only lodgers (could be Joseph's wife but not certain as there are no children with her):-

The William P birth is correct,as is the Mary J.I've got Marys birth cerificate.The birth for Joseph is correct too,If he was living on his own at Silverdale Street,where were his wife and the children who should of been with him & his Wife ? The mothers maiden name on Mary Js certificate is Robinson-but I can't find a Daisy Robinson-Joseph Maguire marriage that is correctt.I've got the certificate for the Burnley marriage & it's definitely not the correct one.

What was the address on William and Mary's birth certificate? Is their mother listed as Daisy Robinson on both?

Daisy is sometimes a nick name for Margaret.

Is it possible they lived as married but didn't actually marry until later in life?

That's a very good find Austin. A lot of couples round about the war time had broken marriages but could not afford divorce so they lived with another partner and if possible married later. Perhaps Joseph was already married to someone else (which is why the 1939 register has him alone but married) and they had to wait for either divorce becoming more available or the death of his wife.

Daisy is also a nickname for Margaret, used because Marguerite, the French version of that name, is also a French name for the oxeye daisy.

Emma,I've found out off the 1901 & 1911 censuses,was in fact,Emily Mary.She was born in 1890 in Barrow-in-Furness,but the family returned to Northern Ireland before 1901 & are on the censuses in Ballynahinch.She appears to have married James Daly in 1914 in Downpatrick.
Her parents are MICHAEL & GEORGINA MAGUIRE.
There's no fathers name on Josephs birth record.
I'm now looking for the marriage of Michael & Georgina,& also Michaels birth,around the 1868 mark,probably in the Ballynahinch area of Northern Ireland.
