In the 1930s, my dad used to visit his uncle and cousins in Verdun.
The suburb of Vedun is on a long sliver of an island seperated from the main island of Montreal by the Verdun canal. This was built in the 19th cent to bypass a shelf that runs across the St Lawrence. When the conditions are right, it is possible to surfboard in the standing wave created by the shelf, but of course, you don't go anywhere.

The longest surfboard ride I ever saw was abt 50 km on the Severn bore. It was quite dangerous as the bore picks up a lot of flotsam, so the guy was riding amid logs, branches, broken door frames, etc.

Spent too long on the PC. What he really meant, it was his turn now. :-D

Vital Records (B.M & D) in Canada have different closure rules than the UK. Each State/Province has different criteria. They are not held by the Federal authorities.
