Hi, am trying to unravel a mystery for my cousin this time! This is regarding Frederick St John Lacy, who lived in Cork, 1862 - 1935, and was famous as Professor of Music at Cork University. My cousin's grandmother, Delia Reid, 1915 - 1970 approx., lived Middleton Co Cork - we are trying to find a connection between her and Frederick. Thought may be grandmother's uncle? |

Start by finding the full names of Delia's parents. As she was your cousin's grandmother, one assumes that Reid was her married name.......... |

Thanks ErikaH and Argyllgran again!!! It's my cousins husband with query - feels that Delia Reid never married. Have been researching for him, but all I have found is a Delia Reid, birthplace Ireland, immigrating to New York 1956, on ship Nassau. Will inquire further to him, but all complicated! Will get back. We don't know who Frederick married, and just a few months before his death - maybe a Housekeeper? Would have thought as famous Professor of Music, may have had money? Found probate for him on Ancestry but unable to access it. Yes, interesting that Louisa Browne (nee Treacey) was his Aunt? Any info greatly appreciated. Regards Maureen |

If Delia was his grandmother, a child of hers must have been his parent, unless, of course, adoption is involved. |

Just enquired and Mary Murphy was my cousins mother. Her mother, Delia Reid, was forced to give her away as she was illegitimate. |

In that case, your chances of finding info are not good - you need documentation, and there is unlikely to be any |

More info: Mary was registered as Murphy in 1936 on birth certificate - and funnily married a Murphy so still Mary Murphy, but believe she was adopted by Burns family. |

I'm told definitely Delia Reid who never married was cousins grandmother. He actually met her in 1960's - she died in 1970. |

Didn't have age on 1956 immigration to NY. She was born 1915 and died around 1970. |
