There is a John Robinson of the right age living in Darlington in 1901, BUT he was born in Loftus

Spending £9.25 on his marriage cert would stop all the speculation, providing he knew his father

If you are so sure about his birthplace, look for him in censuses to find out his parents’ names

Or look for his birth on the GRO site.

Hi the reason I say the Darlington is the father John Robinson came from there and Martha Bainbridge went to Darlington to marry and had 5 children. There separated sometime after the firth child as far as I know.

My mistake - as you had posted no acknowledgement, I assumed you hadn't seen all the info - most of which has now been duplicated

You keep saying 'from Darlington' -what makes you believe that he was born there? He certainly married there, but as that was just after the end of WW1 it doesn't necessarily mean that he was born there.

As I suggested above, get the marriage cert for info about the man's father - it could prove just the breakthrough you need

If you have looked at your previous thread then you need to add a post to it so helpers know that you have seen the information given. If you just start another thread then people will duplicate searches that have already been done.

If you do as ErikaH suggests and buy the Robinson/Bainbridge marriage certificate it will give you an address where John lived at the time and also his father's name and occupation (if he knew his father). This will help with going further back in your search.

Your father's birth certificate will also give an address and an occupation for his father.

Invest in the Robinson/Bainbridge marriage cert, for info about John's father - if he knew him.

You may have to go to the local reference library and look at electoral rolls to get information after the 1939 register as there is not much online after that date. The family seem to be together still on the 1939 register.

Hi lots of information for my tree what I am struggling with is the John Robinson the father who comes from Darlington I have tried to find more information the Raymond Robinson and Albert Robinson is new to me I would like more background on the Robinson from Darlington I have tried to contact som people from different trees but no reply like I have said in previous message my dad did not talk much about his family and the Darlington connection as he and his two sisters lived in South Sheilds. No mention of his Father or his two siblings I think there may have separate from the dad and the other two brothers.
