Hi
Can anyone find on the 1881 census , a henry barker born in march 1879 son of Frederick Wilkinson barker . Frederick was a farmer and had supposedly died by 1905. In 1905 think henry was living in clowbridge Burnley. His wife was Elizabeth chaffer and they married in padiham. Can henry be found on the 1881 census ? :-)

Can anyone find William Chadwick or Frederick William barker on the 1861 census maybe in cliviger Burnley ? Wonder if he was known as,William then ? Will check for William chadwick. :-)

Aw just discovered that Frederick William barker committed suicide . In September 1888. Not sure of details . Might be able to check the paper but think it was in the Manchester one. Can anyone see a date for an inquest for the Burnley express ? That will be easier for me to check . He was living at palace house farm in Burnley at the time . :-S

He had been drinking for some time and he hanged himself. Very sad!!

Yes it's very sad , and what a,sad sight for his sons to see. John william and Thomas and Richard maybe , the others woukd hopefully not have gone to the barn. Really sad . :-(

And,his,oldest son got married the month after , john william , so Thomas woukd then be the oldest son. Wonder if they stayed on at the farm. Tough for Alice but she still had Richard,and the girls,and young henry at home . :-)

Abd the family had more bad luck as,Richards wife died in 1889 , aged 21, Martha Ellen , and daughter Martha Ellen a year later. Richard did marry again in 1893 . :-S
