So if Robin had the name Peace, then we should be able to rule out all the sisters, unless he was born out of wedlock, would that be possible?

He definitely had the surname Peace. I used to work at a school and when he died I couldn't go to the funeral but my Dad went. When the obituary appeared in the local paper I noticed a lady's name who worked at the same place so I asked her if she was related and she said only by her sisters marriage. I told her my maiden name was Peace and she said well you'll know John Peace then and his wife Christine. I told her I had never heard of him and neither had my Dad. She said well he's related to Robin and he's the Sheriff on Nottingham. So in my quest I sent for John's birth certificate and discovered his parents names but then drew a blank.

I've just googled Robin Peace Warsop Vale and it seems there is a local history book that he is in and says that he played football for Nottingham Forest so I need to get one of those books to see if there is anymore information. That will be my first job tomorrow.

I am in contact with my Dads cousin and these were her grandparents. She has never heard of Robin.

I visited them as a child with my family and I know they only had one son Raymond

John W & Alma's marriage is listed with the name spelled PeaRce .

Perhaps you need to buy a copy of the marriage cert, to find out John's father's name.

I have been looking at this from 'Sherrif' John's angle but although I can see that he came from a coal mining family I can find his birth and mother's maiden name but nothing more ??

You say you have his birth cert, perhaps you could tell me the full details from that please which I might then be able to follow back?
