just had a look at Cheshire BMD only one death and that's a Robert McLaren, in 2013 so not him.
There is about 6 Homes in the area so not much chance of finding him. hay ho

If yours is the one in Cheshire, he may have died in 2007 or 2008, just before the house was sold, but if so, his death isn't online yet.

Or he may have moved into a care home.
There's no sign of him on ERs on 192.com

No probate record for him to date.

The Harold who died in Jamaica in 1972 clearly isn't the one living in Cheshire.

However, to answer your questions, Elizabeth -

There are no Harold M McLarens born in Scotland, per ScotlandsPeople.


Re the death in Jamaica - his birthplace is given as St Catherine, so, combined with different YOB, he's almost certainly not your Harold.
Informant was Vincent Richard, present at death - could be just a hospital employee.

re- phonebook entry, carn't find a Harold M McLaren in births that could be a match, unless there is one born in Scotland.

I think that could be him Argyllgran. On area check St Catherine and Clarendon are bordering parishes. is there anyway of finding out who the informant was like you did for Dudley and Agatha

5 Parkland drive, Elton, Cheshire, was last sold in March 2008, per Zoopla.

the informant was Melvin Hall, of Manchester Avenue. That's also Dudley's address, but whether they were in the same house, or just neighbours, I can't say. No house numbers given. Maybe it's just where Dudley died, not his home address.


The informant for Agatha's death was Carl Edwards, of Brooksedge, May Pen, which is also the address at which Agatha died.

Jamaican records online (FamilySearch) don't go beyond 1999.

Can't see any sign of him before that.

from what I know he was believed to have returned to Jamaica,
From the mothers death record I am wondering now if he returned home for her funeral and never came back, I know the son never had any contact. Can anyone find a re-marriage for him in Jamaica or a death record

DEATHS

H. D. (HARRY) McLAREN

At hospital in Ottawa on Thursday, January 20, 1972 Mr. H. D. McLaren of 188 Wingham Place, Ottawa. Born near Virden, Manitoba Mr. McLaren was a member of the original 12th Manitoba Dragoons. He served overseas during the First World War for several years with rank of Major in the 107th battalion. On his return to Canada he was employed with the Soldiers Settlement Board and later as land valuator for the Great West Life Assurance Co. during those years he was stationed chiefly in Brandon retiring to Mandeville Street, St. James and later to Ottawa. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lila (nee Hopkins) in October, 1970. Surviving are one son; Ellis of the National Research Council, Ottawa and two daughters; Mrs. Muriel Barr, Montreal and Mrs. Robert Crawford, Sarnia, Ontario and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mina in Saskatchewan. Funeral service and interment to be held in Ottawa.

Published in the Winnipeg Free Press on Friday, January 21, 1972.
