Ancestry has opened up a can of worms !! Ha ha. I seem to have found evidence under 'poor law and settlement records' of a woman called Elizabeth Warner giving evidence of her pregnancy in 1831 by Charles Matthew Siggs ( who is already married to another Elizabeth). Would there be any way of finding out what became of the child and mother ? |

Those are correct. I have no evidence of the child being born, cannot find anything about the woman other than what is written on the transcript above. She was 23 years old. I've seen the original of the documents but no further clues. |

the child could ahve been born in the infirmary of the workhouse, and then "adopted" ......... as there was no legal adoption back then (it didn't come in until 1927), there would be no records of the child. The only possibility would be to search the Workhouse Records on Ancestry to see if you can find the mother being admitted and released. |
