Wow and wow again ... you did a great job on deciphering it. I tried zooming in on it but could only get bits. |

There is a will on Ancestry for John Rowles born in 1793 and died 12 July 1848. It's very difficult to read. I think it says that he had a cottage rented to a servant and the rents were to go to his wife, Mary Ann, and his business to his son. Can someone who is better at deciphering this style of writing than me please have a look and see if I'm correct. |

I agree, it's totally frustrating that we can't find her. I guess there's only so much time we can give her though then we have to give in! |

He isn't ... I'm doing this research for a friend in his 80's and John Rowles is his great grandfather. |

Great minds ... and all that. I started going through the GRO too but got interrupted ... thanks for finishing that. I wonder if the fact they had no children contributed to the fighting between them leading to the assault. |

There is no doubt that John Rowles married Susannah Walter. |

If that marriage for John Rowles and Susannah Walter in 1845 is the correct one, does it not seem strange that the earliest child we can find is 1853, or am I missing something. |

(just been trying to see, or find when premises were for sale...(Brook Street that is) looking at 1871, counting from start of Brook Street, she seems to be at 15, thought might tell us when she moved...(getting too technical, sorry, lol) Newspapers throw up all manner of things, with addresses (Business, Premises Sales etc.) |
