Find Ancestors

Can anyone find the above man before and after 1867 when he married betsy hurst in Burnley at holy trinity church please. He was born approx 1845 and dads name Richard tiwning. , unsure where ? :-)

Well not sure ..this is what I'm trying to discover. Her mum was Ann hurst who married Thomas Duxbury. They married in 1844 in oswaldtwistle but Anne already had betsy out of wedlock. On the census of 1851 they are in iswaldtwistle and betty is named Duxbury but she was married to James towning under her birth name which was hurst. :-)

It said oswaldtwustle i think but unable to find either Ann hurst or betsy in 1841 .still....its a brick wall I think :-S oops just realized woukdnt find betsy anyway ...it's making me more brain dead than normal. :-S

1841 doesn't record birthplace info - only the County

Yes it says oswaldtwistle. For betsy,s birth. No father listed . But don't think I've ever managed to find Ann on the 1841 census and couldn't find betsy after 1867 or James towning i don't think. :-)

Yes. Sorry Erica ..forgot about that ..betsy not born until 1843. Thought betsy and James maybe went abroad or died ..can find no trace of deaths for them :-S

A cousin has the Thomas and Ann hurst cert from 1844. There is nothing extra on it that's not shown here :-)

And I'm beginning to think that maybe towning is not the correct name ..maybe downing ..not sure what else it could be ?

The PR states that Ann Hurst’s father’s names are on the cert, but does not record them. What are they, please?

Ah. So sometimes,towning sometimes townend and Townsend . Great detective work. I will have to get in contact with my cousin to see if Ann,s fathers name appears on the wedding cert . Or i may have a copy in my files somewhere ..will check now ..its a,long time since we started researching this bit of our tree and as been off work after op thought I'd try and get past the brick wall with help of the amazing people on here . :-)

Thought though that no father,was shown on cert for Ann hurst and Thomas Duxbury wedding ...
