The one in 1886 probate is wrong, sadly, but still raises the question of two with the name of Hughes being photographers at that time. I did say this yesterday at 19:14 UK time.
In 1891 Alfred was Photographer, in 1901 Carpenter at same address as in 1891, and in 1901 also Carpenter. With sister Harriet in 1891 and 1901. Changes of career seem to be hereditary.

I've been trying to find a trade directory for 1871-1891, but no luck so far- 2 photographers named Hughes seems quite strange in that era.

Do you have the birth certificate for Arthur leopold Hughes 1873 or his baptism records. Do either of them give an address.
Is this the death of Alfred son of John and Harriett
Alfred died 1909 Kensington 1909 V1a P153

Maryb -
1861 - 91 - Emma Pinfield / Pilarski says she's widowed, in all the censuses.
Jessie Pilarski in the 1881 England Census Name: Jessie Pilarski Age: 11 Estimated birth year: abt 1870 Gender: Female Where born: Marylebone, Middlesex, England Civil Parish: Marlebone County/Island: London Country: England Street address: 81 Gt Tichfield St Education: Employment status: View image Occupation: Scholar Registration district: Marylebone ED, institution, or vessel: 11 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 135 Folio: 107 Page Number: 16 Household Members: Name Age
Rebecca Pinfield 81 Emma Pilarski 47 Jessie Pilarski 11
Two anomalies - in 1861 Emma's mother is called Mary (born 1781 Huntingdonshire), and in 1851 and 1871 she's called Rebecca (born 1804, Huntingdonshire).
And Emma was baptised 1829, but the censuses give her YOB as 1837.
[sorry, Jan - we're - or at least I am - digressing away from Arthur.]

Thanks Chris, I found that via Ancestry, but although I no longer think its the correct Arthur Hughes, I'd like to find a connection to Richard, as its interesting that another Hughes is a photographer. The only one I could find in the 1881 was a prisoner in Lewes Jail. I now think "my" Arthur was still alive in 1911. Check the post just above your previous one.

I can't find a birth for Jessie, but trees have her as Agnes Mary/Mary Agnes as she appears on later census's a Agnes Mary Thomas.
Leopold Pilarski was also Alexander Leopold according to some trees and he arrived in Hull 15/4/1852 1861 census for there mum Emma Rose does it read she is a widow, if so who is dad to Jessie?

I have a few from stage publications referring to George Power's Comedy Combination (George Power, Arthur Fenwicke, Leo Hughes and Rose Pilarski) "A Wild Delusion", in May and August 1890, Feb 1891 George Powers combination, followed by the Harlow's with donkey and bear, and the Royal, Great Grimsby, May 1892.
Unfortunately I don't have a subscription to magazines or newspapers, I think there must have been a free weekend offer a few years ago.
