Find Ancestors

Hi after obtaining records I have located my maternal grandmother Joan M King born in West Derby Liverpool 1932. Her mothers maiden name was Archer as detailed on her birth record. I have been informed that my maternal grandmother Joan M King married and died in 2014 however I am wanting to locate the records confirming this. I am searching marriage records as I believe she would have married after 1960 which is the year of my mums birth. Any tips on how to narrow it down.

The name isn't unusual so there are several records

maternal grandmother was born Joan M King in West derby district Lancashire June 1932
Mother was born Linda J King in South Liverpool district May 1960 and she was fostered shortly after

I think my maternal grandmother was married after 1960 and the samaritans have provided evidence that she died in 2014.....I havent seen it so looking for a marriage record really to confirm.

Can't the Samaritans tell you her surname at death?

Her death is too recent for us to be able to find it online, except perhaps a newspaper obituary, but her surname at death would help us to find her marriage.

Without that, there are too many marriages of women named Joan King or Joan M King for us to be able to say which one might be hers.

Thank you so much for the information we did receive info from the Salvation Army and you are correct Joan Stubbs is my biological grandmother just sad she passed so recently and we didn't find out sooner but I believe someone must have posted in the newspaper so she must have family going to keep digging thanks for all your help

You could write to the undertakers mentioned in the obituary I posted earlier.

They might be able to put you in touch with her relatives - or whoever arranged the funeral.

I was thinking of that and also requested a copy of the will from probate maybe that will contain some leads thanks a lot for all your help much appreciated

so I requested a copy of the will and it appears the estate has been left in possession of an "heir hunters" company in lieu of locating the sister Constance King. I have emailed the company to see if they have located Constance however I am guessing this means my biological Grandmother did not have any other children etc after my mum. All you help is appreciated and I wouldn't have found any of this information without your support. Hopefully I can continue researching the family for my family tree and continue with the search
