Just also noticed in 1871 census ( Mary ) Bridgett Powell ( Stanley ?!!) was born in Birmingham ?! Not stoke on trent |

On the 1861 census Bridgett is stated as birth place Fenton SOT ?!?! Not Birmingham as stated 1871 census |

I think Birmingham is more likely correct as Birmingham is also stated as her place of birth in 1851. |

So Margaret Tomlin or Tomblin as on the censuses was really Margaret smith. (?) wonder where Tomblin came from :-( |

One last thing for tonight don't know a whole lot about Irish immigration but was the potatoe famine around 1820s 1830s wonder if Bridget & Michael possibly left Ireland because of that (??!) im guessing there may not be ship passenger registers for this? :-( |

Nyx - thank you I get what you mean - quite an eye opener then the person not really even knowing there last name. I guess strong accents influenced how something was written down too. I still don't really know now how to take the step backwards and look for Micheal Stanley's ( ?!! ) parents,simply because of the last name spelling & interpretation. |
