I have a Mystery:
My Grandmother Ellen Rose Jago 1876 - 1920, married Arthur Reginald Nicholson 1874 - 1911 and they had Doris, Eva, Ivy Percival and Helen (known as Ellen)
When she lost my Great granddad Arthur did she marry John Henry Barrett and had,
Dorothy Maude Barrett died 9/3/1911 as is buried in Candie Cemetery
Candie records show, Her mother is named as Ellen Rose Jago 1876 - 1920 John Henry Barrett
How do I find out if she married and had a second family.
Many thanks Wendy :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-

You will need to inquire on Guernsey its self as the family may not have lived in St Peter Port prior to 1911.
Perhaps looking for a death of Arthur Reginald Nicholson may help to see if its a possiblity Helen(Ellen) did re-marry.

Wendy, yes I know it's a different query, but helpers often go over old ground to 'place' people. 'Working back to go forward' so to speak :-)

When you say "Candie records show" Dorothy's parents' names, is that from the death cert? or burial record?
How old was Dorothy when she died?

Arthur went to New York in 1907 (see other thread), and he's not with Ellen in 1911, though she's listed as married.
Dare I suggest your grandmother had a liaison with Mr Barrett while Arthur was away ?? Arthur was a seaman on ships belonging to the Great Western Railway, so was away frequently.
In 1911 it says she had had 5 children, one of whom had died. I can only see birth records for the four who are on the 1911 census. Do you know who the 5th one was?

In your OP and in your tree on Ancestry (though Ancestry won't let me open the tree at present) - you say Arthur died in 1911.
Is that definite, or a guess?

Hello AngryllGran, Kay???? and Chris O,
The records of who was buried in Candie Cemetery were found by some else they were records about the burial plot bought in 1888 by Rosa Helen Alice Jago.
Dorothy Maude was a second child of Ellen Rose Jago's to be buried there. She was 3 months, daughter of John Henry Barrett and Ellen Rose Jago.
Ivy Rose Nicholson was the first of Ellen Rose Children both died as infants. she was 6 moths, daughter of Arthur Reginald Nicholson and Ellen Rose Jago.
Arthur was a seaman in an earlier record.Arthur later signed up for the war and gave an later date of birth to appear younger and did not return.
Ellen Rose Jago may have had a relationship with John Henry Barrett but on the records she was named as his wife.
Thank you for all your hard work on the Mystery.
Many thanks Wendy

Hello Mary and Chris,
1911 Records only mention Ivy not Dorothy because of different fathers maybe and maybe different households.
If Dorothy father was living at a boarding house.
Record of burials was in the Town Church entries no. 59.
Found this in my family tree, problems getting into this area yesterday, sorry.
Many thanks Wendy
