thanks everyone. The harris family in America wi;ll be so pleased with all the info. Is there anywhere that says what ship George harris sailed on to America from Liverpool in 1880 ? They also want to try and find out who the parents of William harris may be. But I think that will be difficult due to it being such a common name . Unless they got the wedding certificate. I think I wi;ll suggest that . thanks again.

ah, so no sign of a mary . So think we can rule out the one found on gannow lane living with mary husband, which is a shame . thanks . think william and mary have disappeared in 1881 ? :-)

yes that is mary on the 1891 and 1901 . but still no sign on the 1881. If the mary harris on gannow lane is her living with a mary husband nee harris i can only think that the one Kath found earlier for the 1851 living in stoke demarel is william and mary with a child william and mary . then after this, those two children did not live with them on any census ? Because they werent there on the 1861 or 1871 ...and mary from the 1881 did not marry henry husband until 1868 so wonder where she had been if she is william and mary kenner buckinghams child ? This is why i am not sure if the 1881 two mary,s are the correct ones. and george in his memoirs said his oldest sibling/brother was david(william david ) and he made no mention of a mary . :-)

i wouldlove that to be the correct mary harris but just dont think her and william had a daughter mary in between anna and amos . Not one that lived with them anyway . yes kath, it is the correct mary and william from the 1871 in cornwall. Not sure if its the correct one on the 1881 though . :-S i wonder if they went back to cornwall for a while and william died there and mary came back to burnley then tolive with her children ? Polly and george emigrated to america in 1880 but dora obviously stayed , marrying titus gaukroger. :-)

hi the census for 1861 is defiantely them too. They had anna and amos before william david ...think the transcriber just mixed up karrie and harris. No sign of a mary unfortunately but guess that doesnt mean a definate no. She could have not been living with them on any census but the memoirs do not mention a mary thats all. avner must be amos ? :-)thanks for that safc.

well maybe he went back home for a visit as i know they lived in burnley and went to burnley together in the 1870's as it said this in the memoirs. the only thing i can think of is that they may have briefly gone back to cornwall in the 1880's ..perhaps this is why i cant find either of them on the 1881 census for burnley ?? :-S
