Hi

I am researching my great great nan, whose name is Celia Jane Whitehead who married Edward Durrant

I have received the birth/marriage and death certificates but I am confused - on the Birth Certificate the fathers name is confirmed as Thomas Whitehead - on the marriage certificate is confirms William Whitehead?

I can only find one birth for a Celia Whitehead for the period I am looking for approx 1866 but am confused why the two documents confirm different fathers?

Looks like her parents married quite some time before Cecilia was born.

I wonder if her mother's husband died before she was born. There is this death:-

Her mother might have just registered her as if she was still married (to cover the illegitimacy) and perhaps Celia just got the name wrong when she married if she had never known either her father or her mother's husband. Just a thought really!!

Marriage Certificate:

15 Nov 1885 - Edward Durrent (Batchelor) 27 to Celia Jane Whitehead (Spinster) 21 - both fathers are Labourers and her father is William Whitehead
