With reference to the large increase of money....my great grandparents were in the pub trade. When he died in 1897, he left £570 8s 0d, resworn a year later at £1,170 8s 0d. |

The probate and increase in value is expected, regardless of what trade they were in. I believe that when any assets (eg a house) are held jointly they automatically go to the surviving partner and are not valued as part of the estate. It is on the death of the surviving partner they would be valued. |
