My cousin has thrown me a curved ball - due to arrive for the day tomorrow to look at (I thought) his Father's side and now says - "I'm looking to do some work on searching for Mum's long lost brother who emigrated to Tasmania in the late 1940s. Don't know if you have done any research on the Brittains, but I would be interested in looking at that if you have anything. Further info - they had a son Paul and I think they lived in Birmingham prior to leaving for Australia"
So - as I'm in a bit of a rush ...................
Harry William Brittain b Q4 1909 Nottingham s/o Edward Beswick Brittain and Sarah nee Grice. Married Annice Blakey Q2 1934 Nottingham
Not finding a birth for her as Blakey. Not finding a marriage Annice to Blakey Not finding birth of a Paul Brittain or Blakey c 1934/5
1939 - ? Annie Brittain b 27.2.1910 at 43 Haycroft Avenue, Birmingham with 1 closed record
1949 - ? 21 March to Melbourne Brittain - Mr H 39 a Blacksmith, Miss A 39 and Mr P 14 from 49 Glenpark Road, Washwood Heath, Birmingham (just around the corner from 1939 address)
1949 and 1954 - 28th 5th Avenue, New Norfolk, Wilmot, Tasmania - Harry William a Blacksmith and Annie 1958 and 1963 - 5 Second Avenue Harry William and Annie 1972 - 9 Arunta Crescent, Franklin, Tasmania - Harry William a Storeman and Annie
Can anyone please help with the Australian side - any births, marriages, deaths for Harry, Annice/Annie or Paul etc or even the elusive births over here. Thanks

Working on your maybe Maddie - Norton is covered by Ecclesall Bierlow RD, so 1911 for Annie. If Annice was a slip if the pen, then she has to be a candidate.

Thanks Chris, yes it had timed out, but got there in the end. Confirms arrival date - it has to be them. Also adds another initial to "the son"
Wonder if this could be another slip of the pen?

The 'Tasmanian State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service - they will check their records including electoral rolls (past & present) and newspaper death notices (for less common names) -dates/location would help). 'White Pages' also on-line. Valerie WAus
