Searching Scotlands People and I cannot find birth details for the Andrew Waddle below to confirm connection, any suggestions:

So this could well be Andrew in 1861, recorded as an Engine Smith.

I had already posted the 1861 you have above. You won't find birth details as the birth was before civil registration began in Scotland. Not everyone was baptised.

I posted the details of Andrew 1844 to show that he was NOT the Andrew who married Ann McArthur (Ancestry tree posted by Shirley).

The marriage certificate and census' posted would appear to "prove" the right Andrew with parents names, occupation and mmn carried through to sons/grandsons etc. You may not get any closer.
