Hi, yes there was one child born, that is my Mum and she was never told who her father was. She remembers seeing a man in a navy uniform when he came to visit once and was told it was 'uncle Harry' so quite possibly the same man but still in uniform approx 1957/1958. I will try and find some contact details for people from HMS Ceres and see where I get to. Thanks! :-) |

HMS Ceres (shore establishment 1946) was the Supply and Secretariat training school at Wetherby, Yorkshire, between 1946 and 1958. |

Hi, fathers occupation is a labourer, I will have a look at the death a little more closely. I don't know how long he was in the Navy for so he could have settled in Leeds. I could only find three deaths that could be him, if he is dead but I couldn't get any further, I guess I will have to persevere!! Thanks for your help, much appreciated :-) |

Thanks for you help, I appreciate any pointers as I am going round in circles. I looked into your suggestion with McClean as maiden name but the age doesn't match up, he was 21 years old when they married. There are a couple of deaths that could be him but I can't find enough info to research them individually. I am a total novice! |

Hi, sorry yes his father was on the marriage certificate, also called Henry Simpson. I don't know when/if he has died, the whole thing has been a bit of a secret. It's only since my grandma passed away way that we have found out a few things to be honest! |

Do you know where and when his death was registered as it may give his birth date? |

My Grandfather was called Henry Simpson and was stationed at HMS Ceres in Wetherby during,1951, this was on the wedding certificate that I found. When he married my Grandma, Joyce Rosendale on August 4th 1951 he was 21 years old. Not sure where he was born but believed to be Scottish. This is literally all the information I have, does anyone have any thoughts on what I could try or where I can search as I am thoroughly stumped. Thanks in advance! |
