Thanks, I saw a ref to Andrew Campbell but thought it was for later records, so that is helpful, might be worth me contacting Andrew Campbell. |

Don't know if this would be any help - re East Fife Record, which is the paper where that record of David Wotton was found. |

I have googled history of the Railway Tavern and nothing, as well as looking at records for Anstruther Wester around this time, as well as looking at 1881 census results.. nothing! |

Hi just one other thing... re the possible father David of illegitimate David, given that the name was right... I have found a record of a David Wotton innkeeper of Railway Tavern Anstruther Wester in Fife, lately dead, no age - a trust deed advert in East Fife Record 1st February 1889. Image is from the index cards from Cupar Library, Fife. Have no idea how to access any further information, any ideas? |

On second thoughts, the William on David's baptism record was probably Jane's brother, and David's uncle. |
