Yes i wondered that too! Maybe one of their 17 year old kids? They were married in 1830 so I guess they could have had other children too. |

I think Robert is their son, just a gut feeling. What I am wondering about though, who are the parents of granddaughter Mary Edgar b. 1854 who is living with David and Mary in 1861? |

Only other thing I noticed is that there is record of an Agness child of Mary and David Martin. There is also an Agness Sharp from Kirkmahoe who had a child with David Kirkpatrick in 1842... no record of them being married? WOnder if there could have been something here, though Im doubtful.... |

My gut feeling is that we have the correct census tying in with the christenings of the children that they did have christened. For some reason, they didn't have all their children christened. I'm sure you have the correct marriage for Robert's parents. (My 4x Great grandmother is listed on some records as Mary, some Marion and some Mary Ann. |

i found their marriage record before.. but no birth record. Thre is a birth record of a Robert Martin born to David Martin and ELizabeth Coutts in 1842 anad there is no record of them marrying, wonder if she died and he took on the son.. going to look now.. |
