Thanks Margaret. I had most of that but have added Ethel's maiden name to my tree. I think that GlasgowLass suggestion of an earlier marriage for Alexander could well be possible

Clive, IF the death and burial info for Thomas Alexander Blackwood and his wife Noreen is the man you are looking for, it means he was born in 1918 rather than 1908/9 and it's the 1921 census that contains the error.
Im going to the GRO in Edinburgh tomorrow and will obtain the Blackwood/ Fetherston marriage cert

YES ! Fantastic find Dea
The informant to Ethel Margaret's death was her son, Thomas Alexander Blackwood. His address is exactly the same as the one that I found on the voters roll and posted earlier.
490 St Charles Street, Victoria BC
The last ER that I found before his own death was 1974 but now we know that he was still there at 1976

This is amazing! Thank you all!
That obituary is really useful. That may even enable me to trace living relatives as I have one or two old photos of Alexander and family that may be of interest to them. If anyone has any pointers on that it would be good.
Also, if there are any leads on Thomas Alexander's siblings, John C Blackwood (B 1911) and Ethel Jane Blackwood (B 1915).

Hi Margaret,
The 1921 census that Shirley provided had:
Alexander Blackwood 44 Ethel Margaret Blackwood 38 Thomas Alexander Blackwood 12 John C Blackwood 10 Ethel Jane Blackwood. 6
I think we have concluded that the ages of the boys are wrong and more likely to be 2 and 1 as Thomas seems to be 10 years younger in later evidence and they are not present in the earlier 1916 census.

Clive -
If you search here
http://www.canada411.ca/
There's an entry (with address) for D & M Harrison in Victoria, BC - possibly Noreen's daughter and husband ??? (Bit of a long shot!)
Or maybe the cemetery would have records of Noreen's burial, and might be willing to pass on a letter to the relatives ?

I will send a PM to Clive with the 1913 marriage cert as an attachment as soon as I get it scanned.
Neither Alexander nor Margaret Ethel had been previously married.
The address of: 22 South Brae Ave, that appears on the travel docs was Alexander's home address in Glasgow.
Apologies but, I forgot about the 1911 census. I know Alexander will be at this house and there was no one else named Blackwood in the household but, I meant to look and see if anyone else lived there with him

That directory will be very useful - I have a lot of Scottish ancestry!
I have quite a bit on Alexander. His father, my 2nd Great Grandfather, was Thomas Blackwood of Blackwood and Gordon shipbuilders in Port Glasgow. He was quite wealthy and lived in a mansion in Woodhall. He died in 1891 but, given that he was quite wealthy I am hoping that there might be a picture of him out there somewhere. Any ideas where I might look for that? I have found a few articles about him and the ships that he built. I also have a picture of his house.
