I am having difficulty in tracing this gentleman - the only Census shows him as a young child in Taunton. I know they lived in the East London area and Elizabeth died in 1960 Romford and he passed a few years later. They had three children - twins Donald Harvey and Anne 1930 and Raymond William b 1940. I was married to Raymond (his second wife), who never spoke of his father except to say he was a unpleasant man prone to violence. I am eager to learn some family history to pass on to my adult children (hopefully for Xmas) - that's the plan anyway !! Can anyone help ?

Do you have the twins exact date of birth?
This will help proove, or disproove if 1939 is correct.

Something else that would help to proove, or not, is the marriage of the girl twin, Anne. Did she go on to marry and become Prior?

On Raymond W Giles birth registration there is is a different mother's maiden name....it could just be a clerical error

Londonbelle, births should be correct, as the twins were born in Dec. 1929 so births wouldn't have been registered until 1930

I feel that the marriage in 1929 would be more likely for the twins. If that's the case, not sure where Rita has got Archibald William Giles from

I can't find a birth for an Archibald W Giles anywhere in England or Wales at the correct time?

As he was a soldier in the New Zealand Expiditionary Force, I'm wonderg in he could have actually been born in New Zealand?

I think this prooves that the parents of the twins and elder sibling Raymond was not Archibald and Elizabeth at all.


Their parents were William Ernest and Annie E. Harvey who married in 1929!
