What was the occupation of Philip on Squire's birth certificate?

I know the question was asked but I may have missed the answer.

Philip it was Yorkshire and later census showed him still there and a bricklayer.

No marriage is showing in Scotland for Mabel in her many names. :-).

I wonder who the father is named for Margaret.?

Philip

Philip Report 10 Oct 2016 10:28

Kay

The details of the marriage of Peggy to Robert E Wallace indicate it took place in Barnet in 1938 Her name was Margaret Scott.

I don't imagine the actual certificate would shed any light on her father as her brother's cetificate only has the name Phillip Scott

Thanks for your interest in these details

I have also looked for other Squire Scotts thinking one may be Phillip's father. Skipping a generation. As a matter of interest my father was actually known asTim !
Was the one you found in1871 from Ashton?

Thanks again

Kay ..........

Squire was a common forename in Lancashire!

There was a boy called Squire in the same class in primary school with me in the late 1940s, and I knew of about half-a-dozen others!

It was also a common nickname between men or between fathers and sons .....

...... men would call each other "Squire", as in "How's it doing, Squire?" and the reply would be "Fine, Squire" :-D

Kay????

Kay???? Report 9 Oct 2016 21:17

Squire, I wonder if Squire links to other Squire Scotts from.

1843 through to 1904 and the one in 1911 Philips father.

Its an unusual christian name to pluck out of thin air and one I imagine given from a family link.?

One was born in 1871 a few years older than Mabel.

pm from Philip:-

Hello again Catherine
I suspect the Irish Phillip who sailed to New York from Tilbury are one and the same.I don't now think this was my grandfather although it would have been very tidy.

Thanks for your help

Could perhaps have been them on Ship 'Benares', left Liverpool 12/10/1911 (Occupation as Manager) although Squire Scott would have been born, hmm!...

The 1911 Census was taken 2nd April.

Thanks for your question. My father (Squire)He had a sister Alice listed on the 1911 census. This was a surprise as I had always known my Aunt as Peggy (Margaret) but her birth year is correct.
Looking forward to any information you may have
Thanks
Philip

Thanks for this further information which I found many years ago. It was my red herring. It fitted perfectly.I even visited the address in St Pancras.
I was encouraged by the name McCarthy as There was a McCarthy working with the Spooner family in Mucking Essex on the 1901. I imagined Phillip having a trip to the farm to visit his cousin.

Some of the information may be misleading because the reationship with Mabel Spooner was most likely posted by myself and I have overlooked to correct it.

Thanks again
Philip

yes this is my father and mother at their first home in Blackpool.

Your previous question about india & the textile trade. I only have family hearsay to back this up and their is prescious little of that, although Mabel told my Aunt not to enquire after him as nothing good would come of it. Like he was in prison or indeed gone to India . There is a record of a P. Scott &wife & child leaving Liverpool for Bombay in Oct 1911 on the SS City of Benares but he would have needed another family for this to be him but you never know!

PM from Philip:

Thanks for all your research. As far as I know and its only hearsay, is that he would have travelled between the census 1901-9111. There is a record of him on SS City of Benares Liverpool-Bombay 1911. Perhaps he never came back. I've checked with the India Library but no trace
Thanks

Philip ,

When did Alice (Peggy) Wallace pass away,?

and have you given ay thought to getting her marriage certificate to clarify who is listed as her father.?--although nothing for Edward Wallace to Alice Scott seems to be showing that I can see in any county.

Edit,

Although Spooner may appear on the birth cert it may not have been the surname of any marriage if the woman had been married before,,,also *nee *Spooner would indicate not married,**formally** indicates married.if correct details were given on registration.

Thanks for your further information
Alice (Peggy ) Scott married Edward Wallace in London, so no relation to Fearon family. I knew them both well.

Thanks again
