So do we know why Catherine soper wrote her name as read in the census when Robert Foxwell was next door. How many kids did they have together? Who was she a widow to?

It does seem that that marriage gives surname as spelling REED, but I wouldn't rule it out, her father is given as John Reed, on Beatrice Kate's batism her father is given as John Soper

Either way buying Beatrice Kate's birth cert will give DOB and that can be cross checked with the DOB given on the 1939 register.
Births Mar 1877 (>99%) Soper Beatrice Kate St. Olave 1d 215
EDIT YES it is the right marriage, as one of the witnesses is Clara A Foxwell. ( image at Ancestry). father "deceased"...

Thanks for all the amazingly interesting info. I found a marriage between Mary Ann bartholomew white and James robert foxwell in 1850. I think this is James and Roberts father. The marriage is in newington, close to southwark where his death is registered. There was a lot of nepotism happening lol
Can someone please tell me is St Olave a place or a church because it keeps coming up.

I found a Charles Enoch Foxwell born 1867 and died 1870 at 3 years old in St Olave Bermondsey. I can't seem to find any info about the parents. Anyone have any idea how I can find out if this is an ancestor?

I wonder if you could shorten that link to family search please? it's stretched the page as long links do .
