Thank you ReikaH & Agryll Gran for your replies. Yes i agree E (Gallon) is vague and it is wrong for me to assume it is Elizabeth You are right, my father when he returned from China stayed with his step brother in 180 Princess St, Manchester My apologies to all and many thanks to all who contributed on my thread

Referring back to AustinQ's post on 25 Jun 2016, when he couldn't decipher the address to which Chin Lee was going. It looks to me very much like Princess Road, Manchester
1939 for the address 180 Princess Road, Manchester, Manchester C.B., Clin Fongtoy 09 Jan 1903, England Male Laundryman Married 153 1 Chu Au Chug Fongtoy 17 Sep 1914 Female Housewife Married 153 2 3 closed records

Looking again at this, I see you ask, "Could you please let me know the address in Runcorn ? Who was living there?"
If you mean Chin Dock and Lee Chin's address, that was given in the 1924 travel record posted by Shirley on 7 Sep 2019 at 19:41, and previously in 2016 by DetEcTive.
817 Church Street, Runcorn.

The woman who travelled in 1927 wasn't necessarily an Elizabeth.
Her initial is only E. Edith / Ellen / Ethel /Evelyn / Ermengarde/ etc - could be anything.

Thank you for your reply I always appreciate whatever information i can get as i never met my grandmother and i dont think my father ever knew what happened to her after my grandfather took him away to China for his schooling and when my dad came back to England at 16, he never saw my grandmother again as far as i am aware
Could you please let me know the address in Runcorn ? Who was living there? I think the astigmatism in having an illegitimate child may have resulted in my grandmother changing her name but i know my father was registered at birth as a Wilson and as Chin Lee I have no information on a Wilson
The other thing i mentioned was that a Elizabeth Gallon was listed as a Passenger in 1927 (6 years after my dad was born). I dont know if she is my grandmother but it seems a coincident
I have many 4th/5th /6th cousins named on my DNA matches but none of their names have no relation to my grandfather/mother
Thanks again for any help Martin Lee

Runcorn seems to be a red herring, in any case.
All the Elizabeth Gallons born within a reasonable timeframe were born in the Northumberland/Durham area, except for an Elizabeth Margaret born in Lambeth in 1895.
So whoever she was, she may have moved to Runcorn for work, and met Chin Dock there. She didn't just go there to give birth away from a home town elsewhere, as Chin Dock's address is still Runcorn in 1924.
Or she may have been living with Mr Wilson there - but wasn't married to him.
But there's a big gap between 1911 census and 1939 register, when she could have moved around all over the place, and we won't be able to find out where she was.

There was no-one registered to vote at 89 Church Street, Runcorn in 1921 or 1922
1920 ER is not transcribed on FMP

The 'last permanent residence' for that single woman travelling in 1927 was NOT the UK - it was South Africa.
And there is ONLY the initial ‘E’ - NO actual forename
Who registered your father's birth?

Just a long shot to follow up on my grandmother Elizabeth Gallon who might be the same person that i am looking for: Her name appeared on a Passenger List as follows:
Passenger Lists leaving UK 1890-1960 First Name E Last Name Gallon Title MISS Age Transcribed 27 Departure Year 1927 Departure Month 9 Departure Day 3 Ship Name Carmarthenshire Ship Departure Port Southampton Destination Port Cape State Country South Africa Destination Place CAPE Destination Place Country SOUTH AFRICA Gender Female Marital Status Occupation NIL Birth Year 1900 Birth Month Birth Day Country Of Birth Last Residence Country UK Address Ship Official Number 148766 Ship Master's First Name H Ship Master's Surname STRONG Ship Master's Title CAPT Shipping line UNION CASTLE MAIL S S CO LTD Departure Port SOUTHAMPTON Ship Destination Port SOUTH AFRICA Ship Destination Country SOUTH AFRICA Ship Square Feet Ship Registered Tonnage 12194 Number Of Passengers 621 Category Travel & migration Record set Passenger Lists Leaving Uk 1890-1960 Collections from Great Britain, England

If your grandmother is listed as Elizabeth Wilson formerly Gallon on your father's birth certificate in 1921, would she have travelled in 1927 using the surname Gallon rather than Wilson?

I still haven't found what I was searching since over a year My Grandmother E Gallon (father's side) may have been the Passenger Listed leaving Southampton for Cape (South Africa) on Carmarthenshire ship in 1927 (born 1900) so she would have been 27 years. My father Chin Dock would have been 6 years of age. Can anybody help with finding any more information because I have come to a standstill Thanks Martin Lee (grandson)

If this is Elizabeth she was only 21 when the son was born
Mother's Maiden Surname: GALLON, ELIZABETH - GRO Reference: 1900 S Quarter in SOUTH SHIELDS Volume 10A Page 779
Could she have already married a Wilson by then
But there’s no marriage showing
By the birth record her mum wasn’t married .is it possible she married a Wilson so Elizabeth was known as Wilson rather than marrying a Wilson

Which DNA test did you take? There are a number of sites which will allow you to upload your raw DNA results to check for matches and try to make contact with relatives, some are better than others.

Thank you Rambling for your replies My dad's birthday certificate does mentioned address as 89 Church St, Runcorn, Cheshire My dad appears to be registered twice Chin L Dock & Chin L Wilson, his mother is Elizabeth Gallon & his father Chin Dock But had no idea his mother changed name to Elizabeth Wilson (Presume she married a Wilson?) I assume my Grandmother looked after my father until he was 3 years old because his father took him to China My father never saw his mother again and never spoke much about her That's the reason i am trying to research our roots Then i came across a Elizabeth gallon as a Passenger List bound for Cape, South Africa Again, she may not be the same person but it seems a coincidence that she just disappeared from scene
