I have an address for 94 Chatham street Leicester in 1873 for a fanny Maria Taylor. I can't find her on the 1873 census by searching her name. She is a saleswoman in a shop and therefore could be down as this in the 1871 census. She is a single woman to the best of my knowledge at this time. |

Maybe? The head of the household is a Draper and Fanny's occupation is listed as Assistant |

Formal adoption really only began in the 1920s. Is it possible that Fanny's son was brought up by a family member? Where is he in 1881? |

There is a long thread on the son somewhere but my 'search' won't work. It might be useful for background info? |

yes that's the birth the only lead I have is that his birth certificate for albert states she was called fanny maria taylor and is a shop woman living in what I thought looked like a 94 but could be 19 chatham street but the birth was at 19 Stanford street Leicester which is about 4 miles from each other. I have no other information... |
