Find Ancestors

I am looking for my grandparents Joshua Ward 1868 and Ann Elizabeth Daley 1872, I was about 7 years old when my father George Henry Ward passed away 1910-1971.He never said much about his family so i just wanted to find out as much as I can about his parents and who my great grand parents where. Also my father married a woman and had a child called Philip Ward before he married my mother in 1962 Violet Tyler,not sure what his first wife's name was but i think Philip would of been born between 1940 and.1952 I think can anyone help please regards Ann

Do you know if your father's first marriage would have been in Birmingham?

Or where Philip might have been born?

I don't suppose you do, but if not, it's a needle in a haystack.
There are so many marriages for George / George H / George Henry Wards, and also so many births of Philip Wards.

So far I can't see a Philip with mother's maiden name the same as any of the wives of the Georges - at least not if he was born in the same place as they married..

The point I am trying to make is.........The "Jos'h who appears on the 1871 census, is actually Joseph A Ward.

I am not seeing a marriage for Joshua and Annie Elizabeth on the indexes for England and Wales. The 1911 census shows that they have been married 14 years. Given their birth years it is quite possible that either or both may have been married before and so not free to marry.

Given that Daley / Daly may have Irish origins, I wondered if Annie had been married before. I'm drawn to this

It may be a complete red herring and that Joshua may not even have married the Annie Elizabeth Campbell but I can't pinpoint that Joshua on the 1901 Irish Census.

What does anyone else think please?
