I think the Elizabeth (age 4 on the 1841 census) is actually his wife and think the original image for the 1841 is faded. I think her age should be 40 or 41. |

Thank you AustinQ, no I have been naughty and moved it to a new thread as I thought it had got 'lost' but your response is exactly what I was hoping for and gives me a new area for research. |

Actually, by calculation 1784 is far too early so there must be another Elizabeth in there somewhere? |

Thank you AustinQ, what a pretty name for a place of Baptism, I wonder if I can find it on any of my maps! |

Looking through the 1851 census from another source, the birth date for Elizabeth Dudley is given as 1800 so perhaps the age of 57 should read 51? |

Sorry Austin, seems like you are before me yet again. At least we can admit 'great minds think alike' lol |

I think we have to be careful with Charles b 1801 as there does seem to be more than one. |

Hi lancashireAnn, thank you for your concern about Charles c.1801 and I have seen one reference to 1799, but there are no entries in IGI giving parents so no going further back on this name. The 1861, after his second marriage to Elizabeth Mayes, does confirm 1801 and he seems to have only one child, George c.1831, by his first marriage, who carries the line forward and is the father of Charles on the 1882 Marriage Certificate as well as living locally at that time (1881 Census). |
