Find Ancestors

Can anyone help by giving some advise how I can trace what happened to Mary Gwendoline Thain she was born in 1900 at Carmarthshire in the 1901 census she is Gwen in 1904 both her parents die and in the 1911 census she is Gwendoline and living at Caswell Cottage Pendine Swansea, this is an orphanage cottage after that I can find no record of her. I have looked at passenger lists to see if she was sent abroad as one of the home children, any advise much appreciated thanks Pam

Thanks everyone and Jan I contacted someone who had been searching the Simms who told me that this lady was not related, that was many years ago and the tree they had has been deleted I have looked for any other Mary Gwendoline or any combination of the name and mine is the only one that comes up so I think I will send for the marriage and possibly the death certificate see what comes up thanks again everyone

She is in a couple of trees on Ancestry, but none have anything past 1911

Personally I would invest in the marriage certificate to see if that gives any clue.

Without wishing to be cynical, they both left a huge amount of money. The £49k she left in 1980 is nigh on a quarter of a million pounds today. Perhaps the person you contacted thought you were after his/her money!

Thanks everyone for all your replies I was off line most of yesterday but am back on line today think it was a weather problem, I am going to send for the marriage certificate today . In reply to some of your questions I did take the word that this lady was no relation but I agree needs investigation. I think that Gwendoline may have stayed in contact with one of her sisters who I contacted and was very nasty and tried to stop me searching and contacted family and told them they were to have nothing to do with me, I was told this by a family member when she told me pressure had been put on her not to give me any information so my search went then into another part of the family until recently when I was contacted by my husbands cousins and the search has restarted and seems I may have found out the reason for her not wanting me to search but she had a daughter that nobody knew about and so think she may have wanted to keep that information secret.
They were in the workhouse/orphanage as the mother died and the father took his own life six weeks later thanks everyone will get the computer on and get searching many thanks pam <3
