Just spoke to my sis and she has no idea how we came up with Eliza, maybe it has just been picked up along the way, whilst we have been searching marriages for James SCHOFIELD.

Ah, couldn't see him on the 71 census on Ancestry because surname was mistranscribed Sheffield although it's very clearly Schofield on original. I see James was a licensed victualer at the "Victoria Inn" It says James born Heywood, Lancs and Alice Wadworth, Yorks.

The 1871 census is on findmypast , it says he was born 1860 in Ireland and they're living in York.

Yes Catherine that is him , my sister has his marriage certificate , and his father is down as James Schofield , am trying to find his birth certificate to find out who his mother is , not sure if it is Eliza BEDLINGTON or Alice that is named on the 1871 census , living in Gate Fulford in York

This would give you at least his father's name and occupation which may help find other info.

Im trying to find my rellie named above, his parents are (I think) James SCHOFIELD b1829 Hatfield, Yorkshire and Eliza BEDLINGTON b1826 Bridlington,East Yorkshire.

George William was born 1859ish in Fermoy, Cork , why his parents were there is a mystery.
I have found a George William on the 1871 Census living in Gate Fulford , York but not sure if the parents are right or wrong they are named as James and Alice.

If anyone can give me any information where i can find a Birth certificate, as I am stuck here, I have either been barking up the wrong tree , or gone down the right path . Fingers crossed its the latter.

Anyway any help or info greatly appreciated
