Adelle Gill 1988/ Philip Peter Gill 1959/ Robert Reginald Gill / Reginald Gill/ John Gill/ Godfrey Gill 1828 thats my line missing a few dates looking for info on Godfrey looking for his dad or a death date any help would be good thanx iv here'd they were stonemasons godfreys wife was Sarah pollard , Godfrey had a sister Mary two years older than him I think and mayb a sister Hannah Gill I am unsure of her as Godfrey was 12 years old living with Mary age 15 liveing with or in a Sheard house wiv Hannah Gill who could of married James Pearson , could Hannah of been Gill by last marriage or a sister ? they lived in Halifax Yorkshire

Do you think Hannah was godfreys sister mayb I should look for the youngest record of Hannah gill

Godfrey was either illegitimate, or his mother had been married before

IF, however, she had been, she'd have told him his father's name.........so illegitimate is really the answer

Looks like Hannah Gill was Godfrey's mother and she had Godfrey before she married James Pearson. Godfrey kept his own surname (at least for official documents like marriage certificate), but thought of James Pearson as his father rather than a step-father.

Unfortunately, I can't find a baptism for Godfrey

............perhaps it's on Ancestry, under the West Yorks records.

So really if Godfrey took Hannahs (Gill) name because his mother had him n Mary when she wasn't married does that mean that the start of my Gill line is from Hannah by blood so really were not gills lol sorry if that's a bit confusing haha
