Absolutely, Prickly.........

Which is why I was trying to convey to Mark that he isn't 'alone'.

Believe me, I know only too well how isolated someone in his situation can sometimes feel.

Before you shoot off to Preston, I think all the Lancs stuff will be in the Liverpool Records Office.

Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other person's frame of reference, i.e., the capacity to place oneself in another's shoes.

Of course it's an enjoyable pastime, and I derived a deal of pleasure from finding the info

Many on here have problems, which is why we spend so much time at our computers trying to be of help to others.

Family history is meant to be an enjoyable past time, I appreciate your help but as I am in a wheelchair and rely on transport I have no option but to wait for assistance.

It's not really his maternal aunt, I think, but more likely his wife's.

There is a fascinating 'Civil Service Evidence of Age' document relating to William on FMP

As you don't have your own computer, I can't send it to you

It's a declaration by his maternal Aunt, one Jane Nuttall Croxton, Licensed Victualler

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 1 Jul 2015 15:53

The 'H' is for Horsfall. HAD to be born before the marriage, in view of age on census.

So not William's child

Births Jun 1875 (>99%)
HORSFALL Jessie Birkenhead 8a 549

Her mother would have been barely 16 when she had her, but, of course, that wasn't illegal in those days
