Find Ancestors

Hi

As someone who does family tree's as a hobby I suddenly find myself asking for help as I seem to have hit a brick wall with this.

A friend of mine has asked me to do a basic tree for his fathers 80th birthday (this saturday!) and I'm struggling with a couple of families:

Arthur Charles Hambly born 1913 St Austell, Cornwall

married Amy Mead, not sure of her birth year but she was born in the Loftus area of Yorkshire/Cleveland. Her father may have been George William Mead (1894, Loftus)

I cant find a marriage for Arthur and Amy but I can find the birth of her daughter Shiela in 1941 in Yorkshire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any chance she could have been previously married? Loftus very close to Whitby, although not in RD. Sheila's birth registered Whitby RD with mother's maiden name as Mead

According to Sheila's son yes, but I'm wondering if Arthur was actually Alfred as you have posted. I did find that one on Ancestry and sort of wondered if that could be the correct one. I did do a search for an Alice A Mead in Loftus but again came up with a blank.

Just looking at the other marriage posted by Greyghost - There appears to be only one birth to the marriage in Whitby- Jennifer 1950.

I don't suppose you know if Sheila had a sibling Jennifer?

I dont think thats her becaue her parents were married as follows:

Of course they could have put the cart before the horse but it seems unlikely that they would return to Yorkshire to marry if they already had a child.

All I know is that Amy's parents were Mary (possibly Mary Ellen) and George William Mead who was from the Loftus are of Yorkshire. My friend seems pretty certain about that.

The daughter's birth cert would have mother's full name........but you can't get it in time

Is it 100% certain that Sheila is connected to your friend's father?

It might help us to help you if you gave an outline of how you arrived at this particular part of his tree

I would suggest that this birth is that of the man who married in Southwark
